Crazy June

June gets more crazy and more fun every day! She NEVER stops moving and she is generally very happy. She does not really cry but she does love to yell. She is usually not mad when she does this but I think it is her way of expressing herself:) Church is a challenge. We will leave it at that. She is not afraid of anyone and will crawl up to complete strangers and pull herself up on their legs. She loves kids especially. It is near impossible to change her diaper so sometimes I give up and just watch her and her naked bum crawl away. She pulls herself up onto anything that she can and loves to explore. She wants to eat anything and everything we are eating and makes a mess while doing so. She still LOVES Sesame Street. Especially Murray and Elmo. It is fun to see her personality grow:)

A few weeks ago we had a date night at Stacy's house with Stacy, Scott, Michelle and Wes. I LOVE these girls and we had such a good time. It was fun to get together to play games and talk. June was doing her usual loud yelling and it was making little Korey cry but other than that it went well with two little ones.

These are just some pics of when Stacy came down to visit us one day. June loved Korey and was crawling all over him.
Tony and I were able to go to the Matt Costa concert at BYU for only six dollars a piece! Tony really likes Matt Costa so we couldn't pass it up. We got a babysitter and had such a great time. It was nice to get out with just the two of us! The pictures are not very good but we were actually really close to him.

Avery Arleen Stowell Swensen
January 23, 1921 - January 10, 2012

My sweet grandma passed away on Tuesday and I can hardly believe she not with us anymore. I have been trying to prepare myself for this emotionally for a long time. This woman was not just my grandma, she was one of my best friends. I am so grateful that I was able to have her in my life for so long. When I was younger, I used to pray that she would just make it until I got married. I did not think that would happen, but it did. She was also able to be there with me during my pregnancy and watch June grow to be 9 months old. We lived with her when we first brought her home and had family prayer with her every night. I think she loved June as much as we did! She was able to be there during my single college years and I would always rush over to tell her about my dates (good or bad) and she always acted so excited to hear it. She would tell me all sorts of stories about when she met my grandpa and when they were first married. I couldn't wait to tell her about my first date with Tony and she was just as thrilled as I was!

This woman had a solid testimony of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints. She was such a great example to me, and still is. She just KNEW without a doubt that it was true, and truly tried to live like the Savior. She was perfect in my eyes growing up and I know that our Heavenly Father is so excited to see her. What a joyous reunion she is having with him and grandpa. I also know that she was excited to see her mother again. I am so grateful for the Gospel and for the knowledge that she is with them again. I am so sad that she is gone but so happy for her. She was so positive but would often say that she was ready to go home.

I have had some moments in the last few days where June does something funny, or I have a question and I just want to talk to her. I almost cant breathe for a second when I realize that I cant talk to her anymore, or see her reaction to June's smile. I am glad that I got to spend time with her and I know that she is still watching us. I am glad that she is walking upright without any pain. I love you so much grandma! Thank you for everything that you have done for me and for all of us.

My sweet little girl is growing so fast! She is nine months old and we are loving every minute. She is crawling all over the place, eating tons of solids, eating EVERYTHING she can get her hands on, talking all day long, and she is starting to dance! She is such a happy, BUSY, girl. She had her nine month appointment last week and she is about 60% for weight 30% for height, and 90% for head circumference (she gets that from her dad). We love our girl and love watching her learn and grow.

Christmas 2011

We had a great Christmas season this year. We were able to spend Christmas with Tony's brother Brian and we had dinner with Matt, Kim, Adam and Emily. On Christmas eve we had dinner at our place with my mom and Brian and then we headed over to the retirement home to see my grandma Swensen. We had June open some presents there and we had a great time. This was definitely one of my favorite Christmas seasons. It was so fun to be with June and watch her get spoiled and eat wrapping paper. It was also great to spend the last Christmas with my sweet grandma (post about her to come later).

Temple square the friday before Christmas. I would not recommend going on that day in the future. It was absolutely packed but fun none the less.

My mom's Christmas concert. She has taken on the Cello and is doing great! June threw up all over herself at the concert but we had a good time anyway.

Get together with the old Room mates! I love these guys! Penny and Cynthia are back from their missions so this was the first get together in a couple of years with all of us.

Tony and I went to see the lights at the Riverwoods and it was so much fun! I would probably say they have more lights than temple square. It was nice to walk around and listen to the music. June got to see Santa for the first time and LOVED him ha ha. I guess she is not afraid of him yet but she played with his beard and smiled. So fun!

8 Months old!!

My little girl is 8 months old today! It is going too fast! Every minute with her has been an absolute joy. She makes everything more fun, especially the holidays. She has such a sweet personality and is always making us smile. We seriously just cant get enough of her and are so grateful that we get to raise her. She is pretty much always happy and even when she is fussy its very mild. She is still sleeping 12 hours a night without a peep (im sure teething will change that) and takes two great naps a day. She loves food and I am sure I give her too many treats that she shouldn't be having. Over thanksgiving break she started crawling and is now into everything! We love our June bug!

I tried to add some videos to this post but after waiting for literally an hour and a half with still no video uploaded I gave up. Ill try to get them posted soon!

Thanksgiving 2011

This Thanksgiving was really fun. Tony's parents and brothers ( Dave and Andrew) were able to come down from Montana to have thanksgiving with us. Tony's brother Mike and his wife Jordan came from Idaho and Brian came from Ogden. Mike, Jordan and Brian stayed with us in our apartment so it was a full house! We had thanksgiving dinner at Tony's sister Kim's house and we really had a great time. Tony's parents gave the grandchildren their Christmas gifts early since they will not see us until after Christmas. This was June's first time opening presents and she was a little confused but loved the excitement!

June got some great toys! She especially loves the dog that sings songs and talks.

We had a lot of fun hanging out with Mike and Jordan. The above picture is June trying to get Mike's computer (she loves computers and ALL cords). The picture below is of June doing her new thing. She loves to discover new ways to make faces with her tongue out.
On Friday we all went to a movie and my mom was able to join us. I really wish I would have been better about taking pictures. On Saturday we went shopping at park city and went to dinner at Cafe Rio when we got back. This is a picture of June shopping with her new hat from grandma Melcher!

Tony had to do a project for school for his history of creativity class. He made a floatation device for June to sit in. We tried it out in my moms bathtub. It worked really well!

The Sunday after thanksgiving we put up our Christmas tree! June likes it but really doesn't play around it much which is great!

"Feasting" on the scriptures (literally)

Lately June has had her eye on Tony's scriptures that somehow seem to be on the floor a lot. She rolls all over and is usually able to get what she wants if we don't watch her closely. Well I left the room for a couple of minutes the other day only to return to this....

June had a chunk of scriptures in her hand and another in her mouth that she was chewing! What a stinker! I could not even be mad at her because she just had a big smile on her face. I am afraid of what she will do next, especially when she learns to crawl.

Fall Festivities

I love fall!! Here are some pictures of the things we have done so far......The first pictures are some that we got one Sunday during a walk around Provo temple. The leaves were so pretty and it was such a pretty day. We got some good pictures of June in the leaves!

We decided to be spontaneous a few weekends ago and go up to Logan for the Pumpkin walk. I found out about it on my friends blog (thanks Kellie!) and when I found out that it was FREE we decided to go! We had a lot of fun and we got to visit with some friends afterward which was great. Here are some pictures of our favorites at the pumpkin walk.

These are some pictures of June's first football game! I had hoped that her first would be a University of Utah game but we still had fun:) BYU played Idaho state and KILLED them. We always seem to make it to blowout games.

June and I went to the Halloween party at Summerfield retirement where my grandma lives. We had SO much fun and it was good to be there with grandma. June dressed up as a chicken this year. Here is a picture of her with AL, one of our good friends at summerfield.

June's 5th and 6th month

So I am kind of playing catch up again but here are some pictures of June in her fifth and sixth months of life. This last week she turned 7 months! Time is going too fast. She is such a happy girl and we love her so much. Here are some things about June that I want to remember at this time...

She sits up on her own!
She rolls all over the place and is already into everything
She is almost crawling but not quite yet
She likes to scream high pitched screams all day ( happy screams)
She reaches for any solid foods that she can get her hands on
She is sleeping through the night (this is not new)
Naps twice a day usually
Loves her daddy and LOVES her grandma!!

My grandpa gave this dress to my mom when she was a baby. He got it during the war when he was out of the country. I wore it when I was a baby and now June has it! I love seeing her in it because it is so special to us.

This is a recap of the first 4 and a half months of June's life! I just want to warn you that it is a picture overload! We had a busy and very fun summer with June. We have been enjoying every minute as parents. We usually end up fighting over who gets to pick her up after her naps or push her in the stroller. She is such a joy and we are so grateful for our little June bug/joo joo/joo joo bee/junie/junie B jones. ( it turns out the name June produces a lot of nick names).

The following pictures are from our trip to washington! It was June's first time meeting her cousins Ivy, Anna, Nora and Nick and her Uncle Ben and aunt Jessica. We had so much fun! This was back in August so June was about 4 and a half months old at the time.

June's Birth Story and Pictures

So here is how it happened..... In my opinion it all started with playing "just dance" on the Wii with the mia maids:) We played hard! I started having contractions that were noticeable that night (friday night) at a mia maid get together (I love those girls). I had been to the doctors office the wednesday before and was not dilated AT ALL and gained 9 lbs in one week! Needless to say I was swollen. So when I was having these contractions on Friday I really didnt think much would happen. It was conference weekend and I did not sleep hardly at all either night, so I was in and out during conference. On Sunday night (April 3rd 2011) they began to get more regular and I thought something may be happening. I wanted to wait until it was really uncomfortable before I went in because I didnt want to get sent home! Especially since my co workers would know I was there!

So back to sunday night, my contractions kept getting more intense. I could not sleep and so I stayed up until about 3 am and watched the RM. I started timing them and they were consistently 2 minutes apart. I finally woke Tony up and after much debating we decided to go in. I was not sure if I was in labor because I wasnt in as much pain as I thought it should be. When we got there I was dilated to a 1. Which to the nurses probably didnt seem like a lot, but since I had NEVER been dilated I knew something was happening. In the hour they monitored me I went from a 1 to a 3 so they admitted me! I quickly progressed to a four and 5 and then I started to feel it! I got the epidural and it was smooth sailing after that:) I slept a little bit and we just hung out. I had to wear some oxygen because her heart rate went down a little bit a few times. I hung out at a 5 for a while so they gave me some pitocin. Within 2 hours or so I was at a ten! I pushed for about 20 minutes and she was here! She was born a little after 3:00 P.M. on April 4, 2011 weighing 7 lbs 4 oz. She was the cutest thing we had ever seen and we were instantly in love!

I was to glad to have the doctor that I had seen the whole time deliver me (pure luck) and to have Tony and my mom there. I definitely feel like we got the deluxe treatment since I work there. The nurses and CNA's were all so great and it was a very memorable experience. We are so grateful to have June in our lives!

We had a lot of work to do putting June's room together. She not sleeps in a walk in closet but she enjoyed a few months of her own room! You will notice that there is A TON of pink. Its a good thing she really was a girl! We got so many cute gifts from the showers. I am glad to have crafty friends and family because I am not very good at that stuff. Baby Showers!

So here are some pictures of the showers that we had. I am so grateful for those who came and for those who threw the showers. It was such a great help to get the supplies that we needed and didnt know that we needed! I had a family/old neighbor shower, friends shower, ward shower, and nursing program shower. We probably could have combined some of them but it was a great excuse to party! These first pictures are from the family/kearns ward shower!

I do not know if I have mentioned this but I have some VERY great friends. I actually consider them family. They threw me such a great shower and I am so grateful for them. Here are some pictures of that. Thank you Michelle, Julie, Stacy and Courtney for throwing the shower and everyone who came to support us!

I do know that the first picture is at about 20 weeks and the very last picture (the one where I am wearing green and look like a whale) is THE night I went into labor! I had her at 39.2 weeks. Just looking at these pictures makes my back hurt!

Starting over

So since it has been pretty much two years since I have posted anything I have given up on "catching up" and I am starting over! Well kind of. Most of you know that we have a new little addition in our family ( who is almost 7 months old!). So I have decided to start with some pregnancy photos. Since It has been a long while since I have posted and I pretty much missed posting christmas, New years, our zions trip, my moms 60th birthday and everything else I thought I would just let everyone know that we are alive (sort of ha ha). School has been insane this semester and we spend most of our time studying, yes even on the weekends! But I am going to put a big fat post on when the semester ends to catch up, so fear not I haven't given up on this blog thing yet!

Temple square

When the family was here for thanksgiving we had the chance to go to temple square! We went the day after they turned on the lights so it was really crowded, but we still had a good time. One of the reasons we wanted to go is because Dave LOVES riding trax. He got a huge smile on his face when the train would go or stop. His smile makes everyone happy, and he makes everyting so much fun!

Thanksgiving was so great this year! We were able to spend it with Tonys grandpa, Ralph, and the extended family. We actually ate at Ralphs retirement home which was perfect because there is a big dining room that we all fit in. It was so nice to have the family in Utah! I think we had a total of 12 people staying at the house, which was so fun. I love this first picture, I think Ralph really had a good time and was grateful that everyone could be there.We are so blessed to have such a wonderful family!

The BYU game

Tony and I went to the BYU vs Airforce game a couple of weeks ago. It was a major blowout but we had a good time! Im not sure how I feel about all of that blue (yuck), but we have agreed to go to one Utah game and one BYU game a season. We had a lot of fun at both of them! When they play each other we are enemies and unfortunately I was the defeated one this year! Revenge will come! But Tony was really happy so I guess all is well:)

Tony's 25th birthday was last saturday (Nov 7th) and even though this is SO late its better late than never! If you know tony you would know that he is ALWAYS doing things for other people, so he deserves a day that is all about him! We went to breakfast in the morning and then spent the day in park city. I got him tickets to next weeks BYU game which he was happy about, and we just had time to get away from school. We spent the night at the neighbors house because their parents were out of town so we had cake and ice cream there. It was fun because we love those kids and they were very excited to celebrate his birthday. It was a great day for a great husband! Happy birthday sweetkins!

These are pictures of some fun things we have done in October (besides studying which takes up most of our time). I love this time of year!

On Halloween mom and grandma came over to have dinner. We ate and passed out candy to the trick-or-treaters. It was really fun, and I think grandma enjoyed seeing some of her neighbors that she hasn't seen for a while.

This is one of the pumpkins we carved (the other one rotted before I could take a picture). Tony and I agree that this is our best one yet!

Tony and I made some halloween cookies and gave them to some neighbors. They were actually pretty good considering my not so great cooking skills!

This is a very random picture that I couldn't resist posting. Tony had been telling me about these huge leaves at BYU and he finally brought one home. Ill have to admit I was pretty impressed!

Last saturday we had the chance to go to the Utah game! I was in heaven. Brian was able to meet us there with a friend, as well as one of my moms friends. It was so fun! It is good to go to the Utah games because in Orem all you see is blue, yuck. The game wasn't too impressive, but what was impressive was that Tony wore a Uof U hat!

Earlier in october we had some friends from the ward over to carve pumpkins for family night! It was really fun. We LOVE the people in our ward, and it was good to get together.

We hiked to the Y just in time to see some of the leaves. I am not always fond of that hike, besides the fact that well its the Y, its like a 100% incline! But this time it was really pretty, and the view from the top is great!

After conference on saturday Tony and I took mom and grandma up the canyon to see the leaves. We went a couple of weeks ago and they were so pretty! There were a lot of reds and oranges. It was so much fun!

Tony had mentioned this weekend how sad he was that we didnt go camping this summer. We have a tent and everything but we never use it. So we decided to go camping in our living room! Here are some pictures of our little adventure. We cant really get out much because of school so this is as good as it gets!

The Zoo with Isaac

Last week we went to the zoo with Isaac and Andrew. It was really hot but still fun! It was fun to see Isaac get excited when he saw the different animals. He is such a sweet little boy and he makes everything more fun when he is around!

This is him riding "foo" as in Kung Foo panda. He just calls him foo because he loves the part in the movie when he says " I love Kung Fooooo....." I think that was his favorite part of the whole zoo, he was asking for foo before we even got there.

California!

Tony and I got the chance to go to California with our good friends James and Courtney. We had so much fun, and we never would have been able to go without them so thank you guys! They have a time share right on the beach in Ocanside. It was like a week in paradise. This was Tony's first time to California and he really enjoyed it!

We stayed in Vegas one night on our way and got to do a few things there. It was also Tony's first time in Vegas (believe it or not), but we didn't stay long so we are planning to go back sometime soon!

We went to Sea World two of the days and this is really the only picture I had on my camera. It was really fun, and I am so amazed at what those animals can do! The park is so much bigger than when I went as a kid I hardly recognized it.

Sometimes I do really dumb things, such as not wearing sun screen. I must have thought I was invinsible or something because we spent the whole day at the beach and I didn't think it would be too bad. I was wrong.

Tony LOVED every minute of being at the beach because it was really his first time on a warm beach. We could hardly get him out of the water!

Uncle Alan's visit

My uncle Alan came for a visit early this month and the whole family got together for a BBQ to see him. He lives in Hamilton, New York so we dont get to see him very often! This is a picture of Tony and I with Alan and his son Nick. It is always nice to see them when they come, it seems like it has been so long since the last time. This was Tony's first time meeting him so that was exciting!

This is a picture of all of the great grandkids ( and some grandkids). It is so much fun to have everyone together, even though the kids get a little crazy. This is the best picture I could get because the little ones had a hard time standing still.

Diamond Fork Hot Pots

This last saturday went on a really fun hike up spanish fork canyon. Tony's brother Andrew told us about it and we decided to try it out! It was a hike to some natural Hot Pots. We brought our swimming suits and took a dip when we got to the top. Some of the pools felt like hot tubs which wasn't appealing at the time because it was really hot. But some of the other ones were just like swimming pools. It felt great!

Summer Fun!

These are just some random pictures of some things we have been doing this summer. It has been a busy one, but we have had fun! We had family staying with us almost every weekend in June. I wish I would have taken more pictures but ill post what I have!

This picture is from when Tony's parents came to visit with Dave and Brian and we went up provo canyon. They have stayed with us a few times this summer and we love when they come!

These are are good friends Bobbi and Andrew. They are moving to Washington and this was their farewell party. They have been such good friends and we are going to miss them!

These are pictures of our nieces and nephews Adam and Emily (top), and the second love of my life Isaac (bottom).I love all of our nieces and nephews equally but it has been so fun to have Isaac come over so often. He spends the night at our house once a week and we have so much fun! He just loves everyone and has so much energy! He sure loves his dad, and Andrew is a great father.

Last but not least, these are some pictures of our anniversary (May 10). We went and ate at the top of the Joseph Smith Memorial building in Salt Lake. Not the ridiculously over priced one but the one next to that one with the same view for a third the price. The picture on top is of us tasting our year old wedding cake. I have no idea why that tradition is still alive but I felt like somehow we would be missing out on something if we didnt try it. But that was a mistake!

Trip to Washington

It was clear back in May and that was before I started the blog, but I really wanted to post these pictures! We had such a good time. We went hiking and camping and we were there for Nora's birthday. We also got to spend some time with Kim and Adam and Emily while we were there. It was a great trip!

So I have been wanting to start a blog for a while now, and I actually attempted to a couple of months ago but had no idea what I was doing. I still dont! But I figure its worth the frustration to have somewhere to put all of our pictures and write experiences (even if no one reads it:). We dont have kids to tell funny stories about, and with school and work our life is not too exciting. But maybe this will give us motivation to do things so our blog will have pictures! ha ha
